The owners of this 1930s bungalow wanted to create a large open plan kitchen diner
that made the most of the fantastic views from their elevated position in Burnside.
This was achieved by removing a back porch, knocking through the existing galley
kitchen and dining room and adding a single storey extension along the length of
the two rooms.
The extension took only 12m2 from the garden but has created a large space (around
30m2 ) ideal for socialising and with sliding doors out on to the garden. Additional
natural light is provided through roof lights and slim floor to ceiling windows.
Although modern in design, the extension has been finished in matching render with
a slate roof to complement the original property.
