‘Kelmscott’ Pollockshields, Glasgow
Scotdraw were delighted to obtain Planning Approval and Listed Building Approval
for their design for this replacement sunroom to this magnificent villa in Pollockshields.
Timeframe from lodging to approval on this sensitive ‘Category B’ listed property
was only 8 weeks. The house being originally built for local builder “J A MacTaggart”
in 1902 and with a verandah, added in 1922 and designed by his architect at the time
“Andrew Mickel” who he later joined forces with to become the well known housebuilder.
The new sunroom will replace the existing enclosed verandah and will provide a superb
entertainment space whilst taking advantage of the hilltop views out to the south.
After seeing our proposals the client’s only additional request was to incorporate
some salvaged stained glass windows into the project.
Externally the building will be clad in sandstone with zinc high level panelling
and a zinc roof over. A striking corner window feature and sliding/folding doors
along with overhead rooflights will provide ample daylight in this excellent new
